Hannah Aichelman is a second year PhD student in Dr. Sarah Davies’ Marine Population Genomics Lab at Boston University. Before starting her PhD, Hannah completed a B.S. in Environmental Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a M.Sc. in Biology at Old Dominion University in Daniel Barshis’ Lab. Her M.Sc. thesis focused on understanding adaptation of the temperate coral Astrangia poculata to distinct temperatures across the species’ range, at both the metabolic physiology and the population genetics levels. At BU, she is continuing to explore coral resilience and responses to rapid climate change using both physiological and molecular tools. Hannah is a former Virginia Sea Grant Graduate Research Fellow and a current NSF Graduate Research Fellow.
